This was my first foray into the Torchwood books, and I was pleased to see they captured the characters and tone so well, with a writing style that is accessible and engaging. I was worried that this range might lean too far in one of two directions - either crass, edgy and hollow stories, or overly gritty and dull stories. The maturity is pretty well handled though, striking the same balance that the show has most of the time. There's some great horror here, and the plot of this one is interesting -especially with how evolves from one premise & genre to another in a cool way. My only real complaint is in the climax, which is a slight let down, but not something Torchwood hasn't been guilty of before.
