I really enjoyed this book! The story, the revolution, and the rich history of the lands gave me the same vibes I’ve felt reading other beloved fantasy authors like Trudi Canavan. Some readers might find the pacing slow, but for me, the detailed history, relationship building, and immersive world-building were some of my favorite parts. It made the world feel alive and layered.
(Spoilers ahead!)
Brienna is a passion of knowledge, hidden away at a school to keep her safe from her biological father’s dark legacy. I loved that Rebecca Ross gave us a bookish heroine who grows into her courage and bravery, fighting to restore the throne to its rightful Queen. While I found certain parts of the plot predictable, I think that’s part of its charm — it felt like a comforting, cozy read while still offering moments of excitement and triumph.
I’m immediately diving into The Queen’s Resistance!
