The biggest obstacle to this book is that the writing simply is not good. It starts off with a fanfiction-esque description of the narrators appearance, even down to an almost parody level line about her breast size, which gives you a fairly good idea of the quality of writing you’re in for the next <200 pages. The story itself was okay up until the mid point, and then it just started to feel like a lot of dashing around and moping that didn’t lead to anything. And I admit I’m not well-versed in mysteries, but I always thought that the point of mystery books was to see it all figured out, not to have it all explained to the main character and you at the end. I really wish this book had been good. But it just wasn’t.
