4 stars. Well, that was an adventure. I really enjoyed this book. Our hero, Dominic, is a pirate and let me tell you the man is charming as all hell. I absolutely loved his character. He’s a cocky ladies man who’s willing to help the less fortunate at any cost. Clare is a slave and gets taken by Dominic and brought upon his ship. She was also a fantastic character and I felt for her so much. Not only was she a slave, her two kids were taken from her and sold by her master and damn did my heart break for her. This story was a lot heavier than what I’m used to from Jenkins but I think she handled the subject matter really well.
The relationship between Dominic and Clare was beautiful. The way he would stop at nothing to find her kids for her and just their chemistry was so wonderful. I also enjoyed the side characters from Dominic’s crew. They were all awesome.
There’s plenty of romance, steam, action and high seas adventure in this one. I adored it and I cannot recommend it enough.
