Royal Blood by Aimée Carter
4.0

This was a fun young-adult novel set in an alternate reality where Edward VIII didn’t abdicate the throne of England to marry Wallis Simpson and his heirs are now the line of succession. The description made it seem that it was a mystery/thriller when it was definitely more of a drama. There was a central mystery but I wanted more, there wasn’t much until the end of the novel. The book spent more time on Evan coming to terms with being outed as being the kings daughter, her relationship with her half sister and other people at court. Although this book wasn’t exactly what I thought it would be, it was still an enjoyable read. I’ll definitely read the next book in the series, as I’m hopeful that this book was about set up and that the mystery will play a more central role in the next one.
