Wyatt by Jessica Peterson
4.5
This was a really cute book! I think I liked it even better than Cash’s story, but not by much. Wyatt and Sally are lifelong best friends who both happen to be in love with one another, but have never confessed it. Sally is back in Texas for a brief stay before taking a job in New York state. She and Wyatt decide to fake date to help her gain some confidence around guys, but it soon turns serious.
I will say that they did the whole assuming what the other person wants thing, where neither one would actually say they wanted to be together for more than just Sally’s time in Texas. It drives me nuts when characters are too scared to talk about their feelings for another person. Granted I’ve never been in their position so who knows what I’d actually do. Fortunately they get past that pretty quickly and realize they want to be together.
There really isn’t much conflict in the book, mostly with Sally having to decide if she’s going to take the job in New York or stay in Texas. I loved that Wyatt shed his playboy, goofball personality and really opened up to Sally about his late parents. I’ve noticed that the MMC’s in these two books aren’t afraid to show their feelings or cry. It’s so refreshing to read about a guy doing that. I’m looking forward to the next book, as Sawyer and his daughter Ella are just too cute.
