This Is Our Story by Ashley Elston

5.0

Yooooo this was so good.

Some people might feel like it was predictable, like I was able to work out who the killer was and other reveals ahead of time, but for once I didn’t actually mind that. There was still so much tension around the why, and how to prove it. Usually I love a ya thriller to shock me with a plot twist- and actually this did do that at one point- but with this it’s almost like you’re trying to solve it alongside the main character using police evidence and interviews, and so when you work something out a little bit ahead of when she does it feels like an accomplishment. It also shows that the author was smart in writing the book, leaving intelligent clues rather than hiding information to reveal as a twist later on.

Highly, highly recommend for YA mystery/thriller fans! I’m looking forward to reading Ashley Elston’s other book of the same genre.
