I thoroughly enjoyed reading the manga version, but I found it frustrating to wait for each volume to be released. As a result, I decided to read the novel instead. While the beginning of the novel is gripping and effectively establishes the mystery surrounding the house(s), I found the ending to be somewhat forced and lacking in satisfaction.
