This was book was not for me in any way, shape or form. There were moments where I felt like crying bc it felt so painful to my eyeballs to keep reading this stale book. 2/3 of it is so snail paced and boring and the last third is loaded with nonstop action I just kept rolling my eyes bc I didn't care for Clio and Lyre bc the story was so insipid it never made me endeared to either of them, I just wanted everything to be over with. I should've definitely DNF this book instead of wasting a week of my life with it but I wanted to give Annette Marie and this book a chance but after Red Winter reading AM's books has been disappointment after disappointment. This book was anathema to me but also it just wasn't well written or developed and characterizations were dry and uninspired. I had such a hard time picking up this book and reading at first bc something told me it was gonna be beyond mediocre and unsurprisingly I was not wrong. The only things I kinda liked were Clio's power and Ash's sprinkled appearances, everything else sucked. Idk if this book will finally put me off of reading any Annette Marie books in the future but I won't go out of my way to read any more from her either.
