Total Dreamboat
by Katelyn Doyle
Was disappointed because I loved her last book, it really crackled with heat. These protagonists didn’t feel like they knew each other or had enough time (although the hurt felt real) and I didn’t root for them after the third act breakup because they hadn’t spent enough time together. I think I needed to know more about Felix as a partner because what we saw was him hurting and distrusting their relationship over and over. I’m glad the Lauren character had a redemption and I liked his sisters (her parents’ story didn’t have legs to mean anything to me) but I wonder if Felix just needed a close friend in the story to get more interiority from him. I’m still very interested in reading more from Katelyn Doyle (writing under her real name, I haven’t read her pseudonym books) because she is a strong writer and puts so much care into her books.
I think had the parent storyline been removed and Felix had traveled with a close friend to unlock more of his feelings, this could have been a lot stronger.
