Ms. Marvel, Vol. 6: Civil War II by Adrian Alphona, Takeshi Miyazawa, G. Willow Wilson

5.0

This volume has: an amazing back story of Kamala's family and their migration from India to Pakistan during Partition; a FUCKING DOPE main plot about "preventative justice" (illegally/"extra judicially" detaining someone before a crime has occurred), that includes a moral about the subjectivity of data analysis and an allegory to racial profiling (complete with a ginger villain named basic Becky, who not so subtly wears an arm band); some great baby Bruno/Kamala back story with an explosive, mostly emotionally believable pay off (side note: Bruno's injuries are probably going to be a pet peeve of mine - I'm prepared to be disappointed by how any resulting disability is played for tired plot and character development and then miraculously healed); and then Kamala goes to Pakistan to find herself and there's a great (if lacking nuance) moment where she tries to do good but is hindered by her lack of regional understanding and consultation with local heroes.
