You Are Fatally Invited by Ande Pliego
4.0
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️☆ (3.75/5)
A private island, an exclusive writing retreat, and a killer lurking in the shadows—what could possibly go wrong?
You Are Fatally Invited by Ande Pliego is a gripping locked-room thriller with slasher elements that kept me hooked from start to finish. A select group of writers is invited to an elite retreat on a secluded island, expecting inspiration and luxury. Instead, they find themselves trapped with a murderer, and as the body count rises, trust becomes a dangerous game.
I loved the eerie atmosphere of the isolated island setting—it added a layer of suspense that made the mystery even more intense. The tension steadily builds as paranoia sets in, and while some of the twists were predictable, others genuinely surprised me. The kills were brutal and well-executed, adding to the book’s slasher feel.
My only complaint is that some of the characters could have been fleshed out more. With a cast this large, a few of them felt interchangeable, making it harder to get fully invested in their fates. However, the fast-paced plot and engaging mystery kept me entertained throughout.
If you’re a fan of locked-room mysteries with slasher horror vibes, this one is worth checking out! It may not be perfect, but it’s definitely a fun and suspenseful read.
