Past Prologue by Steve Berry, Diana Gabaldon

5.0

Wow. Loved this short story and didn't even know it existed until very recently.

I’ve never read anything by Steve Berry before but as anyone who follows me knows, I’m a huge fan of the Outlander series, and am in the midst of re-reading book 3 - Voyager at present. We were just at the point in the story where the old man Duncan Kerr tells Jamie about the Frenchman’s gold on the silkie isle, when a member of our Outlander Book Club told us all that this short story sheds a little extra light on that particular tale.

The story was on offer so I figured what the hell? It’s made me super intrigued to read the Cotton Malone books (as this character is the main one of this story), but it was also a fantastic fit into the Outlander universe too. Absolutely loved it.

I won't go into what it covers as that is some SERIOUS spoiler territory, but if you've read the Outlander series you should definitely read this. If just for one line that Jamie says to Cotton. There were tears, that's all I'll say.
