Lor is one of my new, all-time fav FMCs. She is no nonsense, doesn't hold back, and she's tough as nails. She has some of the best one liners...I mean, the book starts with " That bitch stole my soap" and the one liners and banter just get better from there. I hear this book compared to TOG a lot, and I see hints of it, our FMC is taken from prison by royalty, trained by a grump. There are trials (um...obviously). But this book was so unique, it didn't feel derivative at all. There's great political intrigue, the pacing for the unraveling of the story is perfect, the spice 🌶🌶 was ...spicy, well written, and used well as a plot element, because this first book is really not a love story. I immediately started book 2 and and smacking myself for not reading this sooner.
