This is my 5th Lucinda Berry book! I have never read through an author's backlist as quickly as I am with her books. I have loved every single one so far! This one starts with Emily and Elizabeth. They are twins that were severely abused in their early childhood. Elizabeth seems to have grown up decently adjusted while Emily struggles with major depression, self-harm, and thoughts of suicide. One night, Emily kills herself, and Elizabeth is the one to find her. Now Elizabeth can't cope with her past and her loss of Emily.
Lucinda Berry books are always chockful of twists and turns. Even when I guess one thing, I know something else is going to get me later and it always does. Her books always have such interesting psychological components, and she writes the perfect amount of detail in my opinion. She writes just enough to leave you disturbed, but fades to black the parts of the story that don't need to be on page.
If you like thrillers, I can't recommend Lucinda Berry enough. Always check the trigger warnings though!
