Everything for a Dog by Ann M. Martin

4.0

This was a lovely kids' story in the long tradition of dog books--Where the Red Fern Grows, etc.--that really books about growing up and dealing with life. The twist here is that part of the story is told from one of the dogs' point of view. It's the story of Bone/Buddy, and two boys miles apart and how all three come together, learn to mourn, and then learn to let go of the mourning. It's sad in parts, and a little underdeveloped at times, but the payoff is worth disregarding the flaws.
