One Weekend in Aspen by Jaime Clevenger

3.0

This was a decent read once you get used to the pacing and really shines in terms of side characters and MC chemistry. The biggest frustration for me was the angst with the newly separated MC, Emily. It felt like the romance kept hitting walls that I did not understand. It all made sense at the end, but I would have loved that issue to be something dealt with earlier in the book, and having a different tense angsty moment, such as "dealing with the boss" to be the big climax.

There were lots of healthy examples of consent and sex positivity that were great. I did feel like some propositions did border on coercion which was not cool (the initiator was turned down but it was awkward). I would have loved to know if the author left these scenarios in to make a point. I could see the rationale but would have preferred more dialogue about this type of behavior, considering there was so much dialogue about consent and having a safe experience.
