The author puts many metaphors of the book's theme into the vocabulary and writing of the book. Which is good since it helps you get into the atmosphere, but it can also confuse you a bit. In the end, it was very easy to get into the story.

As soon as I read the title and description I knew I would like this book. It is interesting, captivating, and intriguing. From acquiring the bodies to the search for the serial killer. We also have other points of the plot less related to these, such as the relationships formed by the main protagonist. I liked how the author included creepy facts and situations, like when the Victorians used to take creepy life-like photos with the corpses in that period of time. The end felt a bit rushed. The way it was all coming together and building itself was very good, but where it all culminated I was not quite vibing with it. Like, I see it but I also don't see it. I still have questions, but mostly WHY.

Molly is undoubtedly a smart, badass, and fearless character. She is brave despite her fears and nightmares. We see how she deals with her PTSD and her past, striking a good balance with what she's going through throughout the story. She knows when to choose herself, which I find admirable. I think she is a good main character, bad bitch energy too.
Tom is such an interesting character. I was intrigued and wanted more of him everything. There was simply NOT ENOUGH OF HIM. He is brave, clever, gorgeous, and a caring person. I really liked his energy. Molly and Him? Power couple, a sweet af romance.I'm not really a fan of endings where my ship doesn't end together, but I see why it happened with them, even if I'm still disappointed about it. But it's obvious and feels like Tom will wait until Molly is ready, and I would be wholesome.
Ginny is another favorite. She is so full of life, caring, and a great friend. Chaotic in a good way I would say. I wish we could have known more about her. For James, I had mixed feelings. He was sort of a good friend but his intentions at first were hmmmmmm.
Now Ava. Intriguing and mysterious, that's for sure. She obviously cares for Molly. But I also have mixed feelings about her...The big reveal at the end from her part felt very out of character. I really thought she was lowkey caring damn. But to kill? I had faith in you, sort of. And to then reveal she's actually Molly's mother? That was a bomb. It makes me wonder what other plans or alternatives did this author have for these characters.

To my disappointment, there was no inclusion of any kind. I could say the reason is because of the 'timeline', but didn't the racist riots in Philadelphia1850's shape the history of the city? We see mentions of the medical progress of that time, if you want to be 'realistic' check all the points. I don't see a reason as to why not.

If you love creepy and macabre stuff and are a fan of Halloween, this book will definitely put you in the spooky season. Also, I could definitely see Tim Burton working with something like this, and would for sure watch the hell out of it.
