Dungeon Mauling by Eric Ugland

5.0

The previous book was all about a journey from one city to another.
This is all about a prison break, which also happens to be a dungeon run.

Funny thing is, after book 2 ends, I was expecting this book to go in a very different direction and it felt a bit weird that we're doing this. But hey, this is Montana we're talking about, right? How can anything be simple with this lovable idiot.

So, time to get his hands dirty; and his legs; and his body; and his beard; and his... you get the idea. This dude goes through the worst and most unhygienic things in all of LitRPG books I've read. And therein lies the funny thing. Whenever there are super powerful OP characters in a story, sometimes it devolves into a power fantasy and you feel like you want to step in the shoes of the hero. But not here. So many times I thought, I'm so glad that's not me, over the course of this book. And therein lies the magic of this book.
