Bright Lights, Big Christmas by Mary Kay Andrews

4.0

If you have ever been to New York, then you definitely know this book did a good job encapsulating the feel of the city. Christmas time in New York is a special time in itself, but to immerse the story in Greenwich Village is just a literary cherry on top. That is one of my favorite parts of the city to visit whenever I go, and the sense of community that exists in this book is what I feel every time I'm there. I feel like this story has some very relatable relationships and situations that give it a lot of heart. This would be a 5 star for me except for one problem. I feel like the "romance" in this story could honestly have been left out. I get it, this is the typical Hallmark-esque story. I just feel like the story itself is strong enough that this romance isn't needed, and I feel like that is where any holes begin to form in the story for me. It's still a great read that I would definitely recommend.
