Reylor's Lament by M. Dalto

5.0

I had been so excited to read this one, and of course Treyan’s novella, and find out more about these twin brothers and why Reylor turned on the prophecy like he did. Oh my goodness, this book shows us a lot about Reylor. He is such a great character! I thought he was such a great villain in Two Thousand Years, but reading about him in this novella has given his character even more depth. Reylor and Treyan were like night and day from early on. They were close brothers, always getting along. But while Treyan loved the outdoors, sword fighting and hunting. Reylor was studious, and preferred to be indoors, reading books of all types. But then something changed for them...

I loved this novella! I can’t wait to read Treyan’s Promise next!! This series is already up there as one of my top fantasy series to read!! M. Dalto is a very talented writer. Her characters are very complex. We don’t learn everything we would like to know about them in the first book, but of course isn’t that the way with fantasy! We learn things as the series progresses. Like I feel like I’ve learned more about Reylor from this novella, but at the same time I have all these speculations and questions. I love that. If she told me everything in the first book, well how much fun would the rest of the series be? She would have to introduce new characters. So I love how she is handling her characters’ progression. They are complex, that is for sure, and as the series goes along we are going to discover things we never even imagined. At least this is what I am thinking.

Well I better stop there before I say too much. But definitely read this novella, it will help you understand Reylor better and I think it’s going to help in going into book 2. Of course, Treyan’s Promise is first, I cannot wait!!!
