Belonging: A German Reckons with History and Home by Nora Krug

5.0

I loved this book. The desire to know and understand your relatives is universal. One line especially hit deep: “…even inherited memory hurts.”
Add on the desire to know if your German ancestors had participated in the atrocities of Hitler’s Germany, or if they had been trapped and forced to go along or be done away with. It reads like a mystery, but without the fictional excitement. You are on the ride with the author to discover the truth behind her own family’s behavior. Do yourself a favor and read it.
