The Exiles by Christina Baker Kline

4.0

TW: Infanticide, SA

From the very beginning I felt as though I was in Newgate Prison and being shipped off along with these characters. There is no censorship in the conditions these women lived in. Evangeline's death was a tough pill to swallow and changed the pace of the book for me, but I felt vindication in Ruby's ending. I appreciated Matthina/the aboriginals being included, but the way it was written in felt disconnected.
