The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger

4.0

Alright. This book was far from what I was expecting going into it, but I really enjoyed it!

"The mark of the immature man is that he wants to die nobly for a cause, while the mark of the mature man is that he wants to live humbly for one."

I loved the view we had into an anxious, depressed and suicidal teenager from the 50s. It was a super unique perspective that I've never read about.

I found myself caring for the protagonist a lot, whilst diagnosing Holden with a serious case of emotional immaturity, and his lack of ability to move on. This book represents everything about change that is so terrifying, and the paradoxes of growing up.

It was so interesting for me to break down all the different symbols and interpretations of this book during class - that being said, I'm really glad that I was able read this book for an English class (said no one ever, I know right?), or else I fear I would have missed so many things.

Have a wonderful afternoon
