Summer with the Single Dad
by Whitley Cox
This book was beautifully written. I wanted to read it in one sitting but I didn't want to rush it. From the first chapter, I knew this was going to be an amazing book!
All of the characters were lovable and understandable, while still being complex. Bennett was so sweet with his daughters and with Justine, giving her time to work through her trauma but not pushing her too hard. He was always there for her and to help her feel everything she was feeling, keeping her from getting lost in her own emotions. Justine did the same with Bennette, he was still grieving when she came to town and she showed him that it is also okay to move on after loss.
I think my favorite characters would be his daughters, Aya and Emme. They were so adorable and themselves, liking Justine and showing their dad, even though they were younger, that it was okay for him to love someone after their mom.
The author did an amazing job of making this book feel all the emotions with a HEA at the end of the book. This book also showed a great way of growing and dealing with heavier topics such as losing a wife, losing a patient, to being unable to have kids. It was all done so well, I especially liked how the story unfolded as well. I liked that the conflicts were resolved and the spice and love didn't seem forced to drive the story. It was well-placed and I loved it.
Thank you to the author and Happily Booked PR for the opportunity to ARC read this lovely story.
