Old Man's War by John Scalzi

I'm late to the party with this one (it was published 19 years ago) but glad I finally got there. It's a fascinating premise and very well executed. The detailed descriptions of battles and military manoeuvres aren't my cup of tea, but the characters and storyline and pacing were great. Off to buy the rest of the series.
