Kembral Thorne is one of the few who is able to sidestep in time. This has caused some issues in her job, but it also means she is much in demand.
Having recently given birth Kembral attends a party in the hopes of getting some time away from her new born. Unfortunately, her attendance at the party seems to be a set-up. Someone wants her out of the way.
When she encounters Rika Nonesuch, the Cat who caused issues on her last job, Kembral realises she is going to have to reach out. As soon as they start to realise what is happening at the party - and the dangers it poses - Kembral begins a potentially risky course of action.
The nature of the problem they face means the story is a little repetitive, and I still feel there are questions about the world building. However, there was plenty here to get the reader’s interest. Thanks to NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read and review this before publication.
