It took me a while to truly get into this, my motivation being the amazing trailer and six of crows, but when I finally did get into the story it was enjoyable. The world is very easy to follow especially in understanding the magic system. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series and eager to see what is going to happen next.

My favorite characters:

- Genya she is a fucking queen
- David only because I know his character is going to be someone I like once we see him more
- The Darkling, sue me I like the bad guys

My favorite scenes:

- When Mal and Alina are reunited (the angst)
- "You and I are going to change the world." I fucking conic
- Mal confessing to Alina when they were looking for the stag
- Genya and Alina before the "performance"

What I'm looking forward in the next book:

- Alina struggling with her new found power and how she intends to use it
- More of The Darkling because duh
- Seeing more of Mal because we didn't get to see him that much and I'm conflicted on how I feel about him
- Genya and David
