2023 reread:
Still not my personal favorite of Austen's work, but always a solid read. I think I did pick up on lot more on this read how thoroughly the theme of pride (and comparatively, vanity) are woven through the story.

Also, with all due respect to Joy Marie Clarkson in Aggressively Happy, Mr Collins is only *slightly* less obnoxious than he's typically made out to be. Yes, he is good at being content with is life, and some small amount of his unpleasantness could be put down to lack of social skill. But a little bit of humility and genuine kindness would go a long way to making up for that lack of social skill, and would be required for him to be actually admirable.
