I thought this was going to be a solid 4⭐️ read, but the last 25% went so over the top that I found myself rolling my eyes multiple times. Don’t get me wrong, the author’s writing style is gorgeous and almost feels like poetry (and that cover, my god). I also really enjoyed the initial set up and the whole good girl / bad boy interactions between Eden and Trent. However, I struggled with a few things:

1. The dialogue. I’m sorry, but who talks that dramatically and in constant metaphors? The style of writing worked for describing thoughts and settings, but for dialogue it felt very unrealistic. These two are to be around 30 years old, but they read like angsty teenagers.
2. The kid. I know I sound like an ass, but I found Gage to be way too hyperactive and annoying for my tastes. I’m also not a kid person, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.
3. The hero’s trauma honestly got soooo redundant by the end. I’m at a point in my life where I don’t have as much patience for tortured heroes who allow their trauma to rule their ENTIRE lives and make barely any effort to work on moving past said trauma. Trent was in his 30s and had a child, so it felt immature for him to not get a damn therapist. Heck, no one around him even suggested that “hey, maybe you should go talk to someone rather than being ready to pound your fists into a wall or some random guy’s face when your anger spikes”.
