Ghosts by César Aira

4.0

An odd, interesting novel that describes the lives of migrant workers living and working on the construction of a luxury apartment building. And there are ghosts there too. There was a lot of interesting backstory about class lines and the temporary nature of being a migrant worker. I could have done with it being a bit longer and looking into the lives of other people in the building. I guess the ‘ghosts’ are a metaphor for the people living there before the rich people move in? Or maybe that’s too obvious.
Anyway I liked it! Looking forward to reading more Aira.
