Shiloh by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor

4.0

I love this book because I have such a strong attachment to dogs. However, I also had a difficult time with this book because I have such a strong attachment to dogs… I struggled with any mention of Shiloh’s big eyes since that reminded me of my own dog, and I struggled through moments discussing Shiloh having been beaten. Neither is it any fun to read about children hiding something from their parents. Audiences are well trained enough by now to know that something must go terribly wrong before everything can be right again. (This, inevitably, occurred). However, the dog gets to live happily ever after. In my book, that makes it worth it.
