The Walking Dead Vol. 4: The Heart's Desire by Robert Kirkman

3.0

I like the overall story, particularly the cracking of this existential nut and the continued exploration of what it truly means to be human, but the character development really stalled in this issue. With the exception of Rick's diatribe at the end, the dialogue was pretty flat. This felt like a filler issue - what it lacked in substance it tried to make up for with an onslaught of sex and violence that, without great dialogue, kind of felt ridiculous. I don't have an issue with the sex or the violence, but I want it to have meaning.

I'm trying not to make too many comparisons between the show and the comic - I want to appreciate them both for what they are - but the differences between TV Rick and comic Rick are really jarring for me. I'm not sure how much I like comic Rick, to be honest.
