The City of Brass is about a thief who accidentally summons a mysterious djinn warrior and learns about the existence of a magical world she never previously believed in. This fantasy novel incorporates Islamic elements, and liberties are taken in the backstory. It takes time to learn this world's history and politics, and the book proceeds slowly during these explanations. The magical action scenes are creative. The point of view of the devout Muslim prince, a young man who is struggling with his father's harsh rule, is especially interesting to read.
