The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton

My 9th grader is reading this for school so I joined in. She’s reading it in sections but I binged the whole thing in one sitting. I LOVE the movie so much and the book is exactly like it. I played the movie in my mind the whole time I read it. I normally cry when I watch the movie but I didn’t cry while reading the book. The movie is so dang sad. The lifestyle the greasers lived was a constant battle. Every day was a new fight with the Socs and I honestly would have been sick of it. I’m a huge Patrick Swayze fan so being that he played Darry in the movie, he’s obviously my favorite character in the book. He took care of those boys the best he could but still let them be who they wanted to be. He tried so hard to get Ponyboy going in the right path but being a greaser was all that he knew. Of course he wanted to be like his brothers. Ugh. This story is so good! I asked my daughter if she had gotten to a sad part yet and she said “it’s all just so sad. I don’t think I’m going to make it” 🥺 “Stay gold, Ponyboy. Stay Gold” 😭😭
