As a huge fan of Down Girl, hearing that I'd won a copy of Entitled was the best news I'd received all week. Every bit as researched and eloquent, while managing to be accessible to both academic and non-academic audiences, Entitled works within the framework of feminist analysis to lay out and critique another misogynist phenomenon: male entitlement. I would have finished this book in a day if I weren't such an old lady and needed to sleep, but all jokes aside, this book filled me with rage and disgust (not towards Manne obviously, but towards the patriarchal system that enables and encourages entitlement), especially the chapter "Entitlement to Medical Care." Yet Manne ends on a note of hope, a beautifully written chapter on what girls and women are also entitled to, leaving me more determined than ever to fight, to resist, to defy.
