Tryst Six Venom
by Penelope Douglas
For me this book was like the love child of Chappell Roan’s Good Luck, Babe and Westside Story with Clay’s shame and fear she goes through for the majority of the book and the whole Saints vs Swamp and I am here for it.
This is my first Bully read and I thought I knew what I was getting into but damn, Clay was pretty brutal in the first half. I’d say it’s worth sticking out and not DNFing because I really enjoyed the latter half of the book once they got together and it turned from super toxic to really sweet moments.
Can we also get a round of applause for Krisjen playing Cupid? I love her acceptance of Clay, no questions asked. They didn’t even talk about it really and I loved her concern about them kissing with lipstick on during the Debutante ball. Her going around yelling “Lipsticks!” just reminded me of some panicky pageant mom and I just loved her more for it, lol.
Also, even though Liv’s brothers can be pretty misogynistic, you can tell they love their baby sister. I loved that whenever she calls, you know they’ll be there to protect her. I’m on a sapphic romance binge but I may have to read their book, Five Brothers, someday.
