The end almost had me disappointed, but then Langlais hit it with just the right the amount of dark to appease me lol. This is a read in order series even if the first and second books are happening on the same or similar timeline. I appreciated that the mad scientist is shown not to be omniscient, it would have been boring if that persisted.
