Morning Star: Book 3 of the Red Rising Saga by Pierce Brown

4.0

“You and I keep looking for light in the darkness, expecting it to appear. But it already has. We’re it, boyo. Broken and cracked and stupid as we are, we’re the light. And we’re spreading.”

In the aftermath of the final 100 pages, I am desperate to give this 5 stars, but I don’t think the entire body of work quite gets there. This is a phenomenal book, but I feel it became twisty for twists’ sake. Like its two predecessors, Morning Star is a mile a minute read, but Golden Son had a few more moments of introspection that elevated it to rarified air. Also, the “bye, Felicia” bit deserves to knock it down at least a half star.

I adore this series.
