The Midnight Library by Matt Haig

dark hopeful reflective slow-paced
  • Plot- or character-driven? A mix

  • Loveable characters? Yes
  • Diverse cast of characters? No
  • Flaws of characters a main focus? Yes

The alternate universe aspect of the book is interesting, though not particularly groundbreaking. But I'd never recommend it to others simply because the framing -- woman in the process of killing herself
finds new perspective that makes her want to live
-- seems so entirely fraught and not at all carefully handled.
