vibe is: prickly eldest daughter w/ avoidant attachment befriends her “nemesis” online using her gaming persona & then they become friends/crush on each other IRL.

The author talked a lot about misogyny in the real world and in gaming culture when it comes to strong women and how they’re often seen as “bitches” for speaking their minds. The FMC is strong willed and unapologetically direct and unbothered by these misnomers which is really nice. But she also admits it’s lonely being so opinionated & that she pushes people away preemptively so they can’t leave.

Rather than try to change her tho, the MMC sees her for her whole self and hyped up her attributes as positives. He also immediately understands during the reveal why a woman playing video games would try to pass as a man to avoid harassment which was SUCH a relief that we could skip the whole ‘let me convince a man that women experience the world differently and sometimes have to protect themselves’ convo.
