Immortal Consequences by I.V. Marie is the first book in The Souls of Blackwood Academy. Six rival and only one victor can become an Ascended. Blackwood Acamdey is where some souls go in the afterlife and the only way out is to win the Decennial. 

 

There are six different POV’s in this book. Each one was quite different. I do not think any characters were similar. Wren and August were probably my favorite. I loved their tension and their story! I think that part of the story was my favorite part to be honest. 

 

I did find the fact that the characters were already dead to be interesting. I was not expecting that! There was a lot magic and trials and subterfuge. It did sometimes seem kind of slow though. I also thought it was pretty predictable. 

 

Overall though it was a nice YA fantasy with more than just romance. I do like dark academia books and this one definitely hit that for me. I just wish we could have had more background on the characters!
