In the Ravenous Dark by A.M. Strickland

Did not finish book. Stopped at 54%.
I tried to give this one a fair shot but it's one of those cases when the urge to drop it is almost immediate.

Besides my personal dislike for first person narration, the rest of the book lacks a compelling cast of characters and an interesting narrative. Every supporting character feels flat, the main character is insufferable and all the relationships she builds upon arriving at the royal court feel super rushed and almost too juvenile.

The biggest ick is probably her relationship with her guardian. She detests him and all that he represents, keeps calling him "the dead man" and in the same paragraph she admires his physical appearance.
