This book fucked me up at points and really left me thinking. How High We Go in the Dark takes a close look at humanity, loss, second chances and hope. Not to mention the showcase of capitalism on a dying planet. It read almost like short stories which of course meant I found some more powerful than others. I think the beginning started out very strong and the middle kinda got muddled for a bit but then the ending WOW what a pay off. I am floored. My only gripe is that some of the voices started to all sound very similar at points and some of it felt a tad redundant but I’ve heard it’s a full cast for the audiobook so that would definitely eliminate that problem. I highly recommend this to anyone who likes to think about space, time, humanity, existentialism and what it all means! Heavy content warnings though for sure.
Graphic: Death, Death of parent, Child death, and Terminal illness
Moderate: Suicide
