Superman: Earth One, Vol. 3 by J. Michael Straczynski
4.0
While I would have preferred an introduction of Supergirl here, I get that this is hyper-focused on Clark's story. Once I got there, the revisitation of Zod not only makes sense, but is, in fact, a lot of fun. I like that it isn't overly drawn out, that it pulls from seeds planted in the earlier books, and more than just about anything, I LOVE the depiction of Lex Luthor. It is by far my favorite, and were I not certain no one else will do Lex like this, I would say this book alone has redeemed the character for me.
Additionally, Lisa is further developed here, and continues to be a bright spot in an already brilliant take on Superman.
The art continues to be top notch and the lack of clean lines even seem to help. Normally I don't like such a 'dirty' style, but I think it works here better than it should. Davis and Syaf do fantastic work on this series.
Give us more, Straczynski and co.
