It wasn't bad, but it also wasn't great. I feel like so much of the book was "I looked into her stormy gaze. I could see a hint of confusion as she gazed at me. When she looked away, she frowned. She was clearly confused."

Like stop telling me what every glance and face scrunch means. She would even do this with dialogue. There was no room for the reader to FEEL what was happening. They were always being told. I also didn't enjoy the perspective changes from chapter to chapter. The chapters were too short to support this, and often a scene would be experienced by multiple viewers, which was unnecessary. On the other hand, I feel like the scenery could have been setup better. So much of it wasn't described well, and I felt like I had no clue what was going on when there was a lot of action. How did they get to the top of the tower again? Or why are they in alleys? Etc.

Also, the romance between Mazen and Loulie just doesn't do it for me. She has very little chemistry with him.

And this is more of an issue with the audio book than the book itself, but the narrators this time around sounded bored, especially the one for Mazen. It was hard to get through. I'll definitely read the next one, because I do want to know how it ends, but I'm not looking forward to it.
