The Diving Bell and the Butterfly
by Jean-Dominique Bauby

This book has been on my list of books to read for a long time. Bauby was a 43-year-old editor of Elle magazine, and he suffered a massive, life-altering stroke. Bauby was left with locked-in syndrome, and he dictated this book to an assistant by blinking one eye. Bauby’s take on the world and his vision of his current circumstances are intriguing and deep. Short but impactful and well worth a read.
