The history of the colonization of Australia was not something I had prior knowledge of. The author clearly did a lot of research and that elevated this book. I definitely enjoyed learning this piece of history, but is struggled to find an emotional attachment to the characters. I thought Mathinna had the most interesting storyline, but it was not explored enough and was kind of dropped from the plot at a certain point.
