howiereads 's review for:
Yellowface
by R.F. Kuang
medium-paced
It wasn't BAD, but felt like the author's goal with writing this book was to complain about how difficult and competitive the publishing industry is. The "reveal" was predictable.
The book did make me think about how sad it is for writers, comedians, content creators to exist always desperately searching for the next topic they can exploit. Not all are like this but there does seem to be a subset who can't truly experience life because they're always thinking about how to package it into content, like the protagonist and her friend.
