Legacy of Luck by Christy Nicholas

5.0

Since I am the author, rather than a review I'll give some insight on challenges when writing this book.

I had to do extensive research on the Traveling community of Ireland, which is difficult to come by. Jess Smith, a Traveler author, was my best resource, but even her stuff was mostly modern. To find out what a wedding ceremony in the 18th century was like, for instance, was nigh impossible. Likewise, finding out if it was feasible for a young lady to be forced into a marriage she didn't want by the rules of the group at the time.

I got a basic inspiration from Taming of the Shrew, and readers may see hints of that come through. Believe it or not, that decision came AFTER I had already chosen the name for the main character, Caitriona. I named her after Caitriona Balfe, the actress in Diana Gabaldon's Outlander TV series. The fact she was similar to the Katherina from Shakespeare was purely coincidence.

Enjoy!
